KATSINA ECONOMIC ZONE TAKES-OFF 2021

The Katsina State Government has concluded plans to complete the Special Economic Zone, SEZ and Solar park project next year.

The Special Economic Zone SEZ park that would be situated along Katsina-Jibia road with first class Infrastructure would serve as plug and play infrastructure of combining energy from multiple sources.

Alhaji Ibrahim Tukur Jikamshi, the Director General, State Investment Promotion Agency, KIPA disclosed while briefing newsmen on the activities of the agency in Katsina .

Jikamshi who noted that, 800 hectres of land had been earmarked for the project, said government has decided to develop 100 hectres under it’s first phase to provide the basic Infrastructures.

“Realising the fact that, government alone cannot provide the needed welfare for it’s citizens and recognizing the role of the private sector in stimulating economic growth especially employment generation, the state government has signed an MOU with Skipper Infra JLT”.

This he said is with the aim of establishing a Special Economic Zone where investors will be invited to set up industries under the assurance of 100 percent availability of green power.

According to him, the zone will offer high quality infrastructural facilities and other support services, allow duty free imports of capital goods and raw materials, as well attract fiscal benefits, relax labour and simple administrative procedures.

Jikamshi also revealed that, the state government would partner with UNIDO to initiate industrialization policy, Public Private Partnership law, Environmental policy, organize investment forum and conduct enterpreneurship training.
