By Ibrahim Katsina, SA Security.
Following the unfortunate attack by bandits at GSS Kankara on Friday night of 11th December 2020, with a deep sense of responsibility, I must commend the efforts of many people that made efforts and reported the incident which greatly curtailed the sinister activities of the bandits. The efforts of the local communities in mobilizing and assisting the Security agencies to chase away the bandits is also very commendable and worthy of emulation. His Excellency, Governor Aminu Bello Masari has been briefed on the situation. Besides visiting the scene of the incident to personally assess the situation, he has equally directed that everything possible must be done to return the situation to normalcy.
This is a special appeal to all citizens to see these challenges as collective. While Governments at different levels are doing everything humanly possible to ensure the safety of lives and properties, it’s very important to understand that due to the complexity of the problem, we can only succeed in solving the problem through collective efforts and sincere partnership as commendably demonstrated by the people of Kankara yesterday night.
Bandits operates by using information mostly sourced from the bad eggs living in our communities. These bad eggs monitor Government security plans and choose soft targets for the bandits thereby making it cumbersome for government to detect and preempt such attacks. It’s only a collaboration between official and local intelligence apparatuses that we could curtail incidences like this.
Therefore, this is an appeal to everybody with any information, suggestions, observations or recommendations on how to find lasting solutions to the menace to kindly inbox, call or contact me at anytime with their information which will be treated with confidentiality. Security is a collective responsibility. We need each other to overcome these challenges.
May Allah be our guide and protector always, amin.
