A Sergeant with the Nigerian Army (name withheld) has disclosed how bandits abducted him and tortured him for 26 days.
The Sergeant was among the 77 people rescued from the bandits by a combine team of security personnel in Katsina.
He noted that his ordeal started when bandits operating around Jibia area in Katsina State sprayed his vehicle with bullets before abducting him, his children and relatives.
According to him, after his abduction his captors demanded for N1.5 million which he paid before the bandits agreed to release his three children while holding on to him and his two other relatives.
He noted that going by how the bandits identify him as a security personnel even though he is not in uniform shows that they have prior information about him.
The Sergeant narrated how his abductors subjected him to daily beating while also blindfolding him.
He disclosed that the incident happened while he visited home to nurse an injury he sustained in his area of operations.
He thanked the security agencies for rescuing him and other victims from the bandits den.
