Bauchi accident:FRSC confirmed 20 Killed ,2 Injured,2 Survive



The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) on Monday confirmed the death of 20
persons and injury of 2, 2 passengers were survivors others in a road traffic accident at Turum along Maiduguri federal highway road in Bauchi

Speaking to Blueinknews in Bauchi state, Bauchi FRSC Sector Commander, CC Yusuf Abdullahi, comfirmed the accident occurred Sunday, involving a bus and Golf saloon.

According to him, ” our rescue team discovered 21 persons in the two vehicles involved -12 males adult, 7 female adult and one female children, all perished in the accident.

Blueinknews gathered that, the crash involved two vehicles , a bus belonging to Borno Express , Borno state government  with the number plate BO 890 A28, Borno state, and a Volkswagen Golf 3 saloon car with the number plate MSA 759 XA, Bauchi state.

He described that, the bodies of the deceased have been deposited in the Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, Bauchi and the injured are also receiving medical assistance in the hospital,’’

He blamed the incident on speeding, lamenting that most drivers never needed to their warning, Passengers must also ensure that, they call drivers to order if they are speeding because if there is an accident, they will be involved,’’ he said.

Bluinknews learn that, the major causes of vehicle accidents on this highway as much has not been done to investigate accident cases on the route.

Accident record on that route was obtained from the Federal Road Safety Corp of Nigeria, the Nigeria Police traffic unit, and the Nigeria union of road traffic workers.

Hence the study recommends better road maintenance culture and more sensitization of the road users and enforcement of speed limits.

The study indicated that speed violation by drivers and bad road conditions contributes greatly in the rate of accidents along the route.
