Sokoto Deputy House Leader disburses N2m bursaries to 400 students

The Deputy Leader, Sokoto State House of Assembly, Hon. Abdullahi Zakari Rabah ( APC-Rabah), on Sunday, in Rabah town , Headquarters of Rabah Local Government, disbursed N 2million as bursaries to four hundred students of various tertiary educational institutions.

The beneficiaries were drawn from various tertiary educational institutions from within and outside the state, while they hailed from the eleven wards of the Local Government.

The institutions include : Shehu Shagari College of Education , Umaru Ali Polytechnic and College of Nursing Sciences, all in Sokoto, as well as College of Agriculture, Munki-Wurno and Sultan Abdulrahman School of Health Technology, Gwadabawa, among others .

Each of the benefitting students was given N 5,000, to augment their upkeep in schools.

Speaking at the epoch-making event, Hon. Abdullahi Zakari Rabah, who represents Rabah Constituency, said that, the gesture was aimed at alleviating the suffering of the students .

He also stated that, the money was aimed at enabling the beneficiaries to pursue higher education, lamenting that, poverty was inhibiting most of the Indigent youths from acquiring higher education.

” Education is the best legacy anyone can bequath to the youths, as they are the future leaders of the country .

” How can they diligently discharge this ardous responsibility if they are not properly and adequately educated ?,” Rabah, asked .

The Member also disclosed plans to empower two hundred unemployed youths soon, while he recalled that,he recently empowered two hundred of his constituents recently .

The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress ( APC), in Rabah Local Government, Alhaji Lawalli Muazu Rabah, commended the Lawmaker for the invaluable gesture .

While urging elected and appointed officials to emulate the gesture of Rabah, the Chairman appealed to the students to use the money judiciously .

The Secretary General of the Rabah Undergraduates ‘ Forum, Nura Yusuf Rabah, lauded the Lawmaker for the unprecedented gesture and promised to use the funds for the purpose they were meant for .
