On the excesses and extrajudicial killings by members of the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, the Katsina State government is to inaugurate a white paper committee on the report submitted by the state Judicial commission for immediate implementation.
Governor Aminu Bello Masari made this assertion shortly after receiving the report of the Commission at the Government house council chambers today in Katsina.
Masari revealed that, the white paper committee would come up with modalities to implement the recommendations of the commission.
The Governor who expressed delight on the report, said the commission had conducted a thorough investigation and made far reaching recommendations for consideration.
“I am highly delighted that, the Katsina State Judicial commission of inquiry has become the first among other state Commission to submit it’s report within the stipulated period”.
“I will therefore with immediate effect set up a white paper committee to come up with the modalities of implementing the recommendations as it affects the state, forward to the Presidency and the Police Service Commission the aspects of the recommendations that affects them for appropriate action”, he concluded.
Justice Abdullahi Abbas Bawale, the chairman of the Commission, earlier, affirmed that, the commission established cases of gross violation, impropriety, unconditionality and unlawfulness of a number of arrests, detentions, interrogation and confiscations, perpetrated by some identified members of SARS, STS and IRT in the state.
Bawale added that, these unlawful acts were confirmed to have caused the victims prolonged detentions without trial, death arising from interrogations, loss of limb and confiscation of properties.
