Salaries, pension consumes 50 percent of Katsina allocation-Masari

Governor Aminu Bello Masari of Katsina state has disclosed that 50 percent of the state monthly allocation goes to the payment of salaries and pension.
Masari made the disclosure while speaking at the opening ceremony of a six days sensitization and capacity building workshop on International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPAS) Implementation in the state for Accountants and Auditors.
The governor who was represented by the state Commissioner of budget and economic planning, Alhaji Faruq Jobe said of the average of N6bn received monthly by the state payment of salaries and pension consumed N3.1 bn.
He added that going by the
growing population of the state government is concious of managing the meagre resources accruing to it.
Masari therefore urged that participants to make good use of the workshop to improve their capacity in ensuring judicious and transparent use of resources.
In a remark, the accountant general of the state, Alhaji Anas Malik has disclosed that the state had already adopted the IPAS standard.
He added that the state has been publishing the state audited account which he said has promoted transparency in managing its resources.
Malik thanked the state governor, Alhaji Aminu Bello Masari whom he said had never interfare in their job, praising him for supporting the workshop.
