Mahdi’s case transferred to Kano

The Chief Judge of the Federal High Court of Nigeria has transferred the case between a Kaduna- based businessman, Mahdi Shehu vs Inspector General of Police from Katsina division of the Federal High Court to Kano division of the court.

The notice of the transfer of the case was contained in a letter dated 9th March and signed by the special assistant to the chief Judge, Ambrose Unaeze Esq.

The letter was addressed to the counsels of the defendant, Emmanuel S.Onoja and A.A Machika.

The letter read in part ” I am to inform you that Hon. Shagari-Ahmad in reacting to this petition has denied all allegations made therein and described it as baseless, callous and speculative”.

The Chief judge therefore opined that to Allay the fears of the defendant if the case is tried in Katsina,the case ” has accordingly transferred to the Kano judicial division”.

It could be recalled that the defendant has written series of petition alleging that the Katsina division of the Federal High Court presided by Justice Shagari-Ahmad will not do justice to him.
