Bandits in their number riding on motorcycles have stormed Batsari town shooting sporadically.
Katsina Beat reports that this was the first time bandits were attacking Batsari main town as all the attacks on the area were on villages.
Abubakar Wagini, a native of Batsari who relocated to Katsina due to attacks, told this reporter that the bandits were on the town as at 12am.
“When I heard of the the attack, I placed a call on my half brother in Batsari and he told me that he had left his house and was running for his life. They operated for hours until midnight.”
This reporter however found out from other sources that the bandits were engaged by a combination of security operatives and members of vigilantes for some hours before the bandits withdrawn around 1am.
Alh. Hassan Bakon Zabi, a local merchant was said to have been killed during the attack last night while a local farmer, Umar Galadima, said he has not seen his wife as at that time of filing this report.
Katsina Police command has confirmed the attack to this reporter.
SP Gambo Isa said, “Bandits numbering to one hundred stormed Batsari to inflict harm on innocent people. They came for a revenge attack because of the success Police officers, soldiers and vigilante members have been recording against them.”
He explained that the bandits were defeated by fire power and had to withdraw.
