Governor Aminu Bello Masari of Katsina State has expressed deep sorrow over the fatal boat incident in Kebbi State, which claimed the lives of over 150 people two days ago.
This is contained in a statement issued by the governor’s media aide, Alhaji Abdu Labarsn Malumfashi.
Governor Masari, while commiserating with the Governor, government and people of the state, on behalf of the government and people of Katsina State, over “the devastating tragedy”, consoled the immediate families of the deceased, citing the inevitability of death, as ordained by Allah, the Creator of all things big and small.
He said painful and devastating as sudden death may be, nobody died before the hour appointed for them by Allah, as the Grand Creator has decreed in the Holy Quran that, “every life shall taste death”, and that no soul shall exceed the time appointed for it even by one second.
Governor Masari however, call on boat and operators of other marine forms of transportation to always adhere to the guidelines and regulations outlined by the relevant authorities, saying that doing so will greatly minimise tragedies.
He then called on Nigerians to remain steadfast in obedience to Allah and prayers for His intercession in the security challenges buffeting the nation, stressing the need for positive attitudinal change by each and all of us.
He prayed for Allah’s forgiveness for the deceased, and the courage and fortitude to bear the loss for the bereaved.
