Katsina children demands better life

Children in Katsina state who participated at this year’s International Day of the African child have unanimously demanded for better life for children.

The children voiced their demand at an event organised by a Katsina based NGO, Community Information and Advocacy initiative in collaboration with the Save the children International in Rijiyar Tsamiya village and Katsayal village all in Sandamu local government area of Katsina state.

The children at the event displayed placards with inscription such as “children need access to qualitative education”, “children demand access to health care facilities”.

The children similarly called for the protection of children against abuse and maltreatment.

Some of the children who spoke at the event confessed that it was Save the children International safe space project that encourage them to return back to school.

” Before the safe space project I stopped going to school but with their encourage I have returned back to school and I promised never to abandon school again” they added.

Parents who spoke at the event thanked Save the children International for the initiative that educate rural communities on how to better the lives of their children especially the girl-child.

They expressed delight that this is the first time the event is taking place in the rural area, adding that ” before today we only watch the event of Television or heard it over the Radio”.

In a remark, the programme manager of Community Information and Advocacy initiative, Mr. Enron Jocob has expressed satisfaction over the success of the project in the rural areas.
