Communities in Sandamu local government area of Katsina state have commended Global Affairs Canada, (GAC) and Save the Children International(SCI) over empowerment and welfare packages.
Community leaders in Karkarku, Kwasarawa, Katsayal, and Fago areas have commended the GAC and SCI for the safe space initiative that promote learning and hygiene among children especially girls.
The leaders said ” before the coming of GAC and SCI safe space projects most of our girls have dropped out of school”.
They noted that quite a number of their girls have returned to school with according to them ” most of them have completed secondary school with some of them in tertiary institutions”
The community leaders begged the two international organizations to continue with the project even after the expiration of their mandate in Nigeria.
A girl who benefitted from the project and now on her way to the university, Hauwa’u Manzo thanked GAC and SCI for turning her life for the better.
” Before this programme I have dropped out from school. But with their help I have returned to school, finished my secondary education and I now got admission into the university to pursue a degree in Education/English”.
She thanked GAC and SCI for the initiate and hope it will continue.
However, GAC in collaboration with SCI distributed sanitary packages to the vulnerable girls and boys in area.
