Insecurity: group kick against call for Masari’s resignation

By Our Correspondent

coalition of 43 civil society groups, “save Katsina group” have unanimously kicked against call by some groups and individuals for the resignation of governor Aminu Bello Masari over security situation in the state.

The coordinator of the group, Comrade Hamza Umar Saulawa who stated this while addressing newsmen today in Katsina, said it is unfair to blame the governor over deteriorating security in the state.

” Looking at the foregoing realities, it will be unfair and preposterous for anyone to blame governor Masari over insecurity or his call for people to defend themselves” he stressed.

He added that the governor has less control over the security personnel operating in the state which according to him ” pushed the governor in a difficult position of directing them to act”.

Saulawa similarly commended the governor for providing logistics support to the various security arms working in the state

The coorditor hailed the courage of the state governor in admonishing people of the state to take up arms to depend themselves against the dreaded bandits.

He noted that several constitutional and religious injuctions have encourage people to depend themselves against aggression by the enemies.

He said ,” instead of politicizing the issue of security it will be better if all join hands in addressing it. We therefore called on politicians and civil society groups to desist from politicizing the issue of security.

Their condemnation our Correspondent gathered was sequel to a call by the Coalition of Northern Groups calling for the resignation of the governor over security situation of the state.
