Katsina state commissioner of education, Professor Badamasi Lawal Charanchi has berated parents and students of public schools in the state for not thanking his ministry and governments over students performance in public examinations.
The commissioner stated this while addressing a maiden press conference organized by the state ministry of Information.
He said ” no parent or student has ever visited or written to the ministry to say thank you for the students performance in public examinations”
” If to say it was mass failure that was recorded a lot of people would have been quick to condemn the government and the ministry” he alleged.
Similarly, Charanchi lamented that Parent Teachers Association, (PTA) and alumni associations are not to the running of schools.
He therefore said that the state government has in the past six years improved the quality of education in the state.
The commissioner disclosed that before 2015 only 19 percent of the students passed their school certificate examination in the state,a
He added that with the incumbent administration’s reform in the sector ” at least 73 percent of the students passed the examinations in the past six years”
