2020/2021 HAJJ: KATSINA PILGRIMS BOARD REFUND N661M

About 661 Million naira have so far been refunded to the 2020/2021 intending pilgrims in katsina state who requested refund of their Deposits after cancellation of Hajj 2020/2021 by Saudi Government as a result of the covid-19 pendamic.

Executive Director of the board, Alhaji Suleiman Nuhu Kuki gave the update to newsmen today in his office. The Executive Director inform Journalists that the refund was made from July fourteenth to date.

Alhaji Suleiman Nuhu kuki explained that Governor Aminu Bello Masari gave approval for the refund following the cancellation of Hajj exercise for two consecutive years by Saudi Authorities due to covid-19 pendamic.

Alh Kuki said intending pilgrims are refunded in batches with N661 Million Naira refunded in three Batches.

The Executive Director added that in the first batch the board refunded the sum of N407,834,977 million naira to 331 intending pilgrims,While in the second batch N176 million naira was refunded to 134 intending pilgrims and the third batch the sum of N77,330 million naira was refunded to 63 intending pilgrims respectively.

Alhaji Suleiman Nuhu kuki further said the board registered about 2,721 intending pilgrims for both 2020/2021 Hajj exercise out of which 508 intending pilgrims requested refund totaling about 661 million naira respectively.

The Executive director however said about thirty four intending pilgrims have on their own decided to withdraw their application for the request of the refund and rolled-over their deposits to 2022 Hajj exercise.

Alhaji Suleiman kuki thank the 2020 and 2021 intending pilgrims for their Patience and understanding to the board’s Policies, adding that the door is open to any intending pilgrim wishing to have deposit Refund. The Executive Director reveal that the National Hajj Commission and Katsina State Government are relentlessly working to enhence Quality Service Delivery for future Hajj Operations.
